Why Column Addition Matters
Column addition is the gateway to all written arithmetic. Before kids can do long multiplication or long division on paper, they need to be fast and accurate at adding columns. Carrying is the key skill — and Math Cards makes it a habit through short, repeated practice.
- Problems always involve two-digit numbers (10–49 + 10–49)
- Problems are generated randomly so each run is different
- The scratch pad keeps the work tidy and visible
- No timer — kids work at their own pace
The Right Starting Point
Before tackling long addition, kids should be comfortable with single-digit addition facts. The Addition Facts mode in Math Cards handles that — and it's also completely free.
